There are “dynamic lines” on the face caused by the movement of the facial muscles, such as frown lines at the brow area and crow’s feet lines around the eyes, which are more obvious with smiling. Using Botox Cosmetic, an injectible form of Botulinum toxin in a very small quantity, the local muscles that cause these lines can be temporarily paralyzed for three to four months, and thus eliminate these lines at the brow, forehead areas, and the crow’s feet around the eyes. Using a selective injection pattern with Botox, a “chemical brow lift” can be achieved to bring up the eyebrows that might be drooping with age. There is a new brand of Botox equivalent of the Botulinum toxin named Dysport on the market, which has been used successfully in Europe for twenty years. It works as well as Botox but may act faster and last a little longer.
