Look and Feel Younger With Regenerative Aesthetics
Regenerative aesthetics is at the cutting-edge forefront in helping you look younger and more attractive. It is more than anti-aging – stopping the clock so to speak, it works to bring you back to a younger state by regenerating cells and molecules that have diminished over time. Thanks to the recent advances in cell and molecular biology, these beauty technologies work to make regeneration possible beyond just anti-aging.
The current regenerative aesthetics comprise mainly two main categories – those regenerative factors – cells or molecules – from your own body, or regenerative factors derived from sources other than yours.
What Are Regenerative Factors?
Your body makes regenerative factors all the time to help heal from injuries and damage throughout life. Amazingly, the body brings those healing factors to the injured area in a very clever way. If you have a cut or abrasion, you bleed. The body would supply clotting factors, cellular elements such as platelets – a blood component responsible for stopping bleeding – to stop the bleeding. At the same time, the blood containing these clotting factors and cells are loaded with healing factors as well, to help healing after stopping the initial bleeding. By concentrating the platelet-rich component of the blood, which is also loaded with healing and regenerating factors, one can have a strong healing and regenerating potion to be used in regenerative aesthetics. PRP, Platelet Rich Plasma, was developed for this purpose – spinning your own drawn blood down to concentrate the platelet-rich portion to be used to help regeneration.
PRP Treatments
Dr. Lau is well familiar with the PRP technology. He was trained in cosmetic surgery under Dr. Robert Alexander, a renowned cosmetic surgeon, about 25 years ago. At that time, Dr. Alexander pioneered the use of fat transfer to the breast for augmentation. PRP was used in the fat transfer to promote healing and enhanced success outcomes. Dr. Lau learned PRP technology and has since applied this knowledge to fat transfer and beyond to help regeneration and rejuvenation for various purposes – skin, non-surgical facelifts, genital rejuvenation, and others. PRP technology, and its derivatives, are derived from your own blood and therefore is rather effective and safe. FDA has cleared the use of PRP by medical professionals under the direction of a physician.
How Does PRP Treatment Work?
PRP is prepared in the office by drawing a small amount of your own blood. The blood sample is spined down in a centrifuge to concentrate the platelet-rich plasma portion using a sterile technique. The PRP then can be used in conjunction with surgery, injection, microneedling, and laser aesthetics. IntimMed follows strict professional sterile techniques to ensure the safety of our clients.
