How Labioplasty Majora Can Get Rid of “Camel Toe” Labia- Vaginal Lips; Labioplasty (Labiaplasty) Majora – Seattle, Vancouver, BC
If you are self-conscious about a camel toe look due to bulky labia majora, self-conscious during intimacy, or if you’ve had changes to the outer lips of your vaginal opening (labia majora) due to aging, childbirth, or a change in body weight, you might consider getting a labioplasty majora. A labioplasty majora procedure corrects bulky and excessive laxity concerns that you may have.
What are some other signs that a labioplasty majora procedure might be what you’re looking for? What is surgery like? What are the results? Keep reading to learn more.
Why Does the “Camel Toe” Look Appear When Wearing Tight Pants?
This is a common question, especially for active women like you who often wear tight pants or exercise clothing. Understandably, this can make you self-conscious about how your feminine lines look.
The Camel Toe feminine lines are usually caused by bulky labia majora (as shown by the following figures). The labia (vaginal lips) comprise labia majora – the outer lips which are hair-bearing with fatty tissue under the skin, and the labia minora – the inner lips which have a pinkish or brown mucosal surface (like the lips around the mouth) with no hair. If the labia majora are bulky due to excessive skin and fatty tissue underneath, they could give the feminine lines the camel toe appearance. The camel toe look would be more obvious if the labia minora were thin, exaggerating the indentation between the bulky toes from the labia majora. If you are in doubt concerning your feminine anatomy and being self-conscious about this… we can guide you through it.
Some Ways To Conceal or Eliminate the “Camel Toe” Look When Wearing Tight Pants
A simple and effective option is to use a camel toe concealer to cover up the area. This is simple in concept but has hygiene, usage, and comfort concerns.
To eliminate the camel toe look due to bulky labia majora, especially if you are self-conscious during intimacy, you might consider labioplasty majora, done with or without labioplasty minora at the same time. The following are the pre and post-labioplasty – majora and minora – photographs of a patient as an example. All images are posted with client permission.
What About Loose, Hanging, and Wrinkled Labia Majora?
With aging, childbirth, and body weight change, the outer lips of the vaginal opening – labia majora – may be loose, hanging with redundant tissue and wrinkles. The following is an example from one of our patients.
While we can use dermal filler to correct lines and dimples of the labia majora, you could consider labioplasty majora to correct the bulky and excessive laxity concerns definitively.

What is the Best Technique for Labioplasty Majora?
Patients frequently ask about the best technique for labioplasty majora. Dr. Lau, who has done well over a thousand successful labioplasties – minora and majora – over the last 25 years, explains:
- Successful labioplasty majora requires proper minimally invasive surgical technique, such as using sharp dissection with a scalpel or scissors instead of laser or electrocautery to avoid heat damage to tissue, especially nerve endings; using fine dissolvable stitches; and knowing the anatomy of the labia well. Doing such contributes to a successful labioplasty majora without complications.
- I make the incision for closure in the valley between the labia minora and majora, through the mucosal tissue. This will hide the incision well and it should have a minimal scar.
- It is important to shape the labia majora during the labioplasty majora to maintain a natural look even upon the reduction of the bulk and redundancy of labia majora by strategic placement of the suturing.
- It is important to evaluate both the labia minora and labia majora as a unit when considering labioplasty for either or both. Upon labioplasty majora, the labia minora could become more obvious especially if they are large to start with. On the other hand, if only labioplasty minora is done in the presence of bulky labia majora, the camel toe feminine lines might become more obvious with the reduction of the labia minora size creating a deeper valley between the” toes” of labia majora.
- I have performed hundreds of vaginal rejuvenation/vaginoplasty surgery cases over 25 plus years and in the majority of the cases, the labia majora would be tightened and reduced from the vaginal rejuvenation alone without further need for labioplasty majora (might need labioplasty minora if indicated). I can discuss with you the best option for you. The following is an example of one of my patients who had vaginal rejuvenation and labioplasty minora. The labia minora looked great even without doing a labioplasty majora.
Can Labioplasty be done using only local anesthesia (numbing medicine) in an office setting?
- Most certainly, Dr. Lau performs all his cosmetic vaginal surgery procedures, including vaginoplasty and labioplasty majora, using only local anesthesia at the surgical suite in his Seattle office. Dr. Lau has been successfully doing this for thousands of patients over 25 years, while ensuring a comfortable and safe surgical experience for each of them.
- Patients will be able to go home or hotel right after the surgery.
Would there be sensation change after Labioplasty Majora?
- There should not be decrease in sensation after labioplasty majora. How one does the labioplasty – using fine and proper technique – is the key to preserve sensation of the labia, especially labia minora which are richly innervated. While the labia majora do not have the dense sensory nerve supply as the labia minora, good minimally invasive technique should be used as in proper surgical practice.
Would Labioplasty improve sexual function and satisfaction?
- Sexual function and satisfaction are complex issues, involving physical, emotional, relationship, and psychologic factors.
- In general, if your issue with sexual function or satisfaction is related to the physically large labia, labioplasty should help.
- Furthermore, improving self-confidence after labioplasty would help to increase satisfaction in intimacy.
What are the risks and potential complications with Labioplasty?
- Since only local anesthesia is used, labioplasty is a safe and well-controlled procedure with Dr. Lau.
- The usual blood loss from labioplasty is less than one tablespoon. The risk for bleeding is very minimal during or after labioplasty.
- Prophylactic oral antibiotic is used to prevent infection – which is rare.
- The most common problem post op is local swelling and some bruising. Ice pack applied locally for couple days helps.
- While in six weeks after labioplasty patient can resume all and full activities, the tissue remodeling takes up to six months to complete after labioplasty (same as for facelift, abdominoplasty etc.). At that point, if there should be any rare occurrence of asymmetry or unevenness, revision could be performed without charge.
