WHAT are the technologies being developed at IntimMed Lab for attractiveness with applications to clinical practice at IntimMed?

WHY Research and Development are so important at IntimMed? – Dr. Lau’s Scientific and R&D background: 

“What makes a person attractive?” is a question that has intrigued Dr. Lau over the years. He started exploring that question by studying how body scent and fragrance contributing to attraction as early as when he was an undergraduate chemistry student in Hawaii. He approached the question by synthesizing and testing perfumes made from exotic tropical plants to see how they could affect body scent.  He is still pursuing such quests relating body scents and fragrance to attraction as a cosmetic chemist. His specialization in cosmetic surgery and sexual medicine affords him the opportunity to explore beauty, attraction, and perception. His endeavor as an art photographer allows him to explore beauty in a more abstract and broader context. Dr. Lau’s research at IntimMed Lab, the research and development (R&D) arm of IntimMed, centers around this same question “What makes a person attractive?”

Dr. Lau is an established scientist & technologist: Dr. Lau’s research efforts are scientific based. He studied in the graduate school at University of Washington, concentrating in nuclear and physical chemistry, working on his PhD before entering medical school. He studied technology development management and earned his MBA from Oxford. He has been involved in multiple medical technology and device startups and holds multiple US patents and patent applications. He actively published scientific papers and frequently presented papers and lectures at professional meetings worldwide. He is a visiting scholar at the School of Engineering (Electrical Engineering & Computer Science) of the University of California Irvine, collaborating in multiple research projects in Artificial Intelligence (AI); pre-clinical drug development using zebrafish ; mobile EEG for neuroscience; biosensors for microbiomes relating to vaginal infection and STD; and biomedical device R&D – funded partially by the US National Institute of Health (NIH). 

Why leveraging natural processes? It might seem ironic that Dr. Lau who is a scientist, cosmetic vaginal surgeon and sexual medicine specialist, also a member of Society of Cosmetic Chemist, would recommend naturalistic approach to aesthetics, attraction and intimacy instead of employing the usual chemical drug or physical interventions. Dr. Lau learns from his clinical experience well. Being a board-certified gynecologist and having many years of experience in taking care of thousands of women worldwide, Dr. Lau has grown to appreciate the need to be naturalistic in approaching aesthetics and intimacy. For example, regarding intimacy and vaginal odors, he completely understands that vaginal scent is natural, gentle, and intimate in character and therefore needs to be managed in same manner as well – let the body brings itself to its normal state, naturally, with some appropriate professional assistance as needed. Another example would be in breast aesthetics. Even as a cosmetic surgeon who has performed breast aesthetic surgeries and breast fat-grafting, Dr. Lau recognizes that in many cases, what a woman often really wants is to rejuvenate her breasts to make them more attractive and youthful without invasive means – for which regenerative aesthetics such as PRP breast rejuvenation could certainly provide. 

With the mindset to promote the naturalistic non-invasive approach to aesthetics and intimacy, Dr. Lau has been concentrating his R&D efforts at IntimMed Lab mainly to find innovative solutions using scientifically based technologies which specifically leverage natural processes of the body to enhance attractiveness and to help achieve fulfillment with confidence in intimacy.
